Windows 2003 Active Directory Domain (3 days) Module 1. Install Windows 2003 In this module students prepare for and install a Windows 2003 Advanced Server. The different versions of Windows Servers are compared. Lab : Install Windows 2003 Advanced Server Module 2. DNS This module explains the Domain Naming System standard for Name Resolution. Students will understand basic concepts like zones, zone transfer, resource records and the DNS Namespace. Nslookup is used as a DNS troubleshooting tool. Lab : Install a DNS Server Module 3. DNS en AD This module explains the Name Server requirements for Active Directory and discusses recommended features like dynamic update and AD integrated zones. Lab : Prepare DNS for Active Directory Module 4. Active Directory This module explains the Active Directory physical (tree, forest, domain, OU) and logical (sites, replication) structure and prepares students to install Active Directory. Lab : Install Active Directory Module 5. OU's and Users This module clarifies the built-in User Accounts and prepares the students for User Account Management. Lab : Create User Accounts Module 6. Groups This modules explains Active Directory Group types and scopes and the new built-in groups. Students will discuss the AGLP and AGGUDLP group strategies. Lab : Identify Group Rights Module 7. Active Directory Domain Controllers This module takes a deep look into the different domain controller master roles (RID, PDC ) Global Catalog functionality and trusts are explained. Lab : Domain Controller Master Roles Module 8. Group policy This module starts with defining Group Policy Objects, Settings, GPO Linking, and then explains the GPO application, inheritence, processing and GPO Conflicts. The module uses a 'real life' scenario throughout all the labs, where students will setup many group policies. Lab : Planning Group Policies Module 9. Deploying Windows This module shows the switches that can be used to install Windows and explains how to create Answer Files with the Setup Manager. The second part explains Disk Duplication and the third part handles RIS, explaining CD-based and riprep images. Lab : Create Answer Files Module 10. AD Sites This module explains the Active Directory concept of Sites. Students will learn how to properly setup sites, and how this affects replication and authentication. Lab : Planning Sites Module 11. Disaster recovery This module shows the Backup Tool and discusses different backup strategies. Students will perform a normal restore and an Authoritative Restore of an Active Directory Object with ntdsutil. Lab : Simple Backup and Restore |
